Week 24 Round-Up

Well, after the excitement of Ronan's putative comeback last week, this week was a bit of an anti-climax I'm afraid although his solid 5 means he has impressively narrowed the gap to second place to just 10 points. The title race is still very much on. Penny scraped together 4 and Darren mustered just 2 in a frozen pitch affected weekend.
Might have listened to a bit too much Billy over the weekend though...

Week 24 Table

Penny       206 pts
Darren      201 pts
Ronan       191 pts

Lookey Likeys 2!

Clint Gyllenhaal with beard and ...

The Pirate Captain from Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists Just look at those googly eyes! One and the same.

This film also has two added bonuses to the spooky lookalike above:
1. The opening song on the soundtrack is Swords of a Thousand Men by Ten Pole Tudor which is not only brilliant but solves a reasonably long-standing Totally Skill mystery, namely, if they didn't record Safety Dance (it was of course Men Without Hats), what WAS their big hit?

2.There is a great gag centring on  2001: A Space Odyssey.
To be clear, the Egg Plant Totally Skill League has received no payment for this endorsement.

Lookey Likeys!

Santi and ....

Adam Sandler

Not sure how we missed this one, but thanks to Stephen for the heads up.

Week 23 Round Up

Oh. My. Stars...
Who would have thunk it but for only the third time in Totally Skill History someone has scored 3 three pointers and bagged a 3 point bonus, and who was it? That's right, the person who most needed it, the man they call the Little Seal.
His 14 point total for the week may still leave him 13 shy of 2nd placed Darren but all he needs is another good two weeks and who knows? With another Whaley Bee to come at Easter, this could be the closest end to a Totally Skill season EVER!!!!
League 1, the Blue Square and Germany were where it all went right for Ronan. But for the fact that Penny and Darren both picked up sole 3 pointers to go with a few singles, scoring 5 and 6 respectively, he would have closed the gap even more. In other news, Ronan and Penny both foresaw (and how could it be otherwise, Darren?) The Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club vanquishing their rivals in one of the contingency games. Seriously; how on earth do you expect anyone to beat 11 Yetis?

Week 23 Table:

Penny   202 pts
Darren  199 pts
Ronan   186 pts

Plank of the Week II

This goes to Arsenal Football Club. You had a briliant chance to get shot of nice-but-not-that-great Theo to Liverpool when contract negotiations stalled, but what do you do? You make him your best paid player on a hundred grand a week. What. The. Funk?

Plank of the Week

Oh Joey, Joey, Joey. Usually it isn't worth highlighting him in this segment because no one else would get a look in but you don't diss Didi and get away without being named and shamed. For those who missed it, after ill-conceived comments about Loic Remy's possible transfer to Newcastle and then Barton's parent club, QPR, Didi told the boy Barton not to slag off either former or present clubs as it showed a distinct lack of class and was biting the hand that feeds you. Cue torrent of increasingly personal abuse from Barton, including mentions of Didi's former gambling problems. He apparentely thought better of it all the next day but to question Didi's incredible career and professionalism is something of a new low.
What a twatter.

Week 22 Round-Up

Oh dear, reports of Ronan's comeback do seem to have been a been a bit previous afterall. Both he and Darren both mustered a measly 3 points each this week, aided by A!F!C!'s draw at Wycombe (come on lads; can you not beat WYCOMBE for Pete's sake?) In fairness it would have been 3 points all round but for Penny pulling a masterstroke out of the bag at almost the last minute and nicking a valuable 3 pointer from Nancy v Lille to add to her 3 single points. Oooh ; it was like '89 and Michael Thomas all over again (ahem...) So, it's still reasonably tight at the top but Penny manages to put a bit of day-light between her and Darren.

Week 22 Table

Penny           197 pts
Darren          193 pts
Ronan           172 pts
