Totally Round-Up Week 10

Me oh my. Another rather underwhelming week of points totals. Just 3 each for Darren and Ronan, while Penny exerted at least a modicum of pressure on Darren by garnering 4 precious points.
All three of our intrepid forecasters were on the money with regards to Tranmere, who did have to ruin a triple perfect score by failing to notch up a second goal late on though. Also, the Totally Skill troops shared a point each thanks to Buckie winning the battle of the Thistles. What could have been a 'prickly' away tie for Buckie turned into an impressive victory, which will 'plant' seeds of doubt amongst their rivals for the title.
It was a rather sorry state of affairs for the Totally Skill teams this weekend......A!F!C! dropped three points and shipped three goals at home to Crewe, while Didi's twitch might well warp into a full blown total body spasm any day now. A 4-0 tonking by Wrexham is no cure for his ills. 
So, there you have it. The song remains the same for this week at least. Maybe next time around, someone will make a dash for it, open up a commanding lead and never look back? Or we could all just trudge along like this until next May, when Ronan will suddenly guess EVERY score correctly on the last day and make off with the winner's T-shirt, chuckling and babbling hysterically into the sunset.

Plank Of The Week!!! Part 4

Not many outstanding candidates this week really. It would be unnecessarily harsh to bestow the honour upon Armenia's Valeri Aleksanyan, though his own goal last Tuesday was a thing of twisted beauty. For anyone who's Irish.

So instead, in the spirit of knocking them when they're well and truly down, the entire Galway Utd squad (and the managment team, physios, coaches....but maybe not the ground staff) take the plaudits by being so consistently bad for so long. One win in 34 games so far this season, and a whopping -85 goal difference. I think a stint in the First Division is well earned, and maybe they can build from there. Build what, I hear you ask? A sandcastle? It would be a start. PLANKS!!!

Totally Round-Up Week 9

Points were thin on the ground this week, although the placings remain the same after Ronan failed to capitalise on Penny and Darren's relatively weak showings.
Penny's encyclopedic knowledge of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League paid off as she picked up on the New Saints recent impressive home form, and although they can't manage to throw a few badges into an envelope, Romulus got full points away to Halesowen Town, a result Penny also felt was on the cards. Only the 2 points for her this week though.
Darren renewed his faith in A!F!C! and was rewarded with two of his 4 points total, although he should have realised that Bournemouth were going to be tough to beat at home. Darren still leads the way regardless, and his steely stare on the finish line will no doubt be getting steelier by the week, so the others should steel themselves to try and steal his advantage over the coming weeks and months.
Ronan amassed a grand total of 5 points, when really he could have done with around 10. But, Forres Mechanics did not let him down, nor the impressive Mansfield, who knocked the stuffing out of Grimsby.
Obviously though, none of them know anything about Major League Soccer. Just as well it was simply a guest League this week. Back to the usual multi-league spread from next weekend. See you then Totally Skill fans!!!!

Totally Round-Up Week 8

Darren keeps his nose in front by bagging an impressive 8 points which included a three pointer in the Darlington-Newport County tie. Darren was wise in reckoning Newport would struggle to score away from home. Good call Darren.
Meanwhile, Penny notched 8 points also to stay a mere 2 points behind in second place. While Darren and Ronan both foresaw a comfortable home win for Lossiemouth, Penny was canny in predicting that the Clachs impressive away form might see them edge this one. And she was right, by Jove!
Apart from predicting the margin with which A!F!C! would beat Gillingham (while Darren and Penny showed an alarming lack of faith in the mighty Wimbledon, predicting a loss and a draw respectively....shame on you guys), little else went right for Ronan, who stuttered to a 4 point total to now sit in third place on the table.
It's still early doors yet of course.
