Mystery of the Week

Actually, it's two mysteries.
A. How on earth can these two be twins?!!
B. How on earth can you misremember which one you shared digs with as a youngster at Arsenal, even if you are Paul Merson?
Answers on a postcard please.

While we on the subject of mysteries, if someone can work out who that bloke was in Gervinho's shirt against Reading yesterday, that would also be useful. The Gervinho we know would definitely not have got a goal, two assists and an ovation...

Finally! He's coming to England!!!!

After years of rumours that someone in the Premiership was going to buy the brilliantly named Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, it looks like it's finally going to happen this summer with a pre-season agreement signing him to Norwich. That he will be teamed with the wonderful Chrissie Hughton only adds to the joy.
Many thanks to our Dublin correspondent for the news.

Week 32 Round Up

Who on earth would have predicted that our most weather-affected week would be at the arse-end of March? But so it came to pass and as a consequence, not a lot of activity in the table except Darren's outstanding showing in the contingency games means he has eaten into Penny's lead and now only trails by 6 points. Otherwise, everyone gained a point from A!F!C!'s win over Morecombe (they're at 16th now! What a turn around). Darren and Ronan both foresaw that Lisburn Distillery would be too pissed to take on Portadown who tonked them 5-0.
Hopefully the weather will be kinder next weekend as we return to the Premiership with it's under-pitch heating systems. Meanwhile, if anyone can explain to me why Bristol City are still bottom of the Championship after going on a great winning streak, I would be eternally grateful...

Week 32 Table

Penny    254 pts
Darren   248 pts
Ronan    245 pts

Week 31 Round-Up

Week 31 turned out to be something of an anti-climax after the excitement of the last few weeks. Top scorers were Ronan and Penny with a measly 4 each whilst Darren trailed with just 2 points. All our teams were dreadful in Europe with just one point picked up between all three in Switzerland of all places. This gives the lie to talk of The Egg Plant Totally Skill League being up there with the top leagues in the world but it is still early days.
Allthis means though that there is now just one point between Darren and Ronan and then a mere 9 points to the top spot. With just a fortnight to Whaley Bee, it's all up for grabs now!
Above is an entirely gratuitous picture of Richie as he hasn't been on't telly for a couple of weeks. Apologies...

Week 31 Table

Penny   252 pts
Darren  243 pts
Ronan   242 pts

Week 30 Round Up

First off; guess who's out of the relegation zone in League 2? Keep it up lads!!!!
And in similar fashion, Ronan continues his late season scamper up the table with a whopping 11 points from this weekend. Penny managed a steady 6 to keep her top but Darren is definitely getting a bit too close for comfort with a solid 7. I've said it before but I'll say it again, this really is shaping up to be the most exciting finish yet to The Egg Plant Totally Skill League. Those who said it was a Mickey Mouse League in its early days can eat their words now.

Week 30 Table

Penny     248 pts
Darren    241 pts
Ronan    238 pts

Who Are Dey? Eggsackerly!!!!!

Well, it turns out both Frannie Jeffers AND James Beattie didn't drink enough milk when they were kids as they are now only good enough to play for Accrington Stanley. That'll learn 'em....

Week 29 Round Up

Yeah, that's how I feel too guys. Pah. And to add insult to injury, because Golden Gareth can apparently do no wrong, the fact that he scored an own goal isn't mentioned at all with the goal credited to our Per. Scandalous.
Anyway, moving onto much more important matters, this was another high-scoring week in the Egg Plant Totally Skill League and it really is all shaping up nicely for a much more exciting finish to the season than in previous years. Interestingly, all our players got a three-pointer but all in different games, with Darren plumping for the Championship correctly, Ronan calling A!F!C! bang on and Penny going abroad to the Bundesliga for maximum points. Ronan was again top scorer with a mighty 10 to Penny's 8 and Darren's 7 so he is now just 7 behind Darren who trails Penny by a mere 8 points. As the Whaley Bee approaches, who will blink first with so much at stake?

Week 29 Table

Penny   242 pts
Darren  234 pts
Ronan  227 pts
