Week 28 Round Up

First off, apologies for last week's no show; Penny's training trip to England without taking the weekend's sheet is to blame. On the plus side, the trip definitely paid off as she racked up a very useful  9 points this week. Having become aware that both Darren and Ronan were starting to appear ominously in the rear view mirror, she clearly felt a bit of extra work abroad would be worth the effort and how right she was. That she tinkered with her formation and went with Darren's tried and tested back-to-front squad line-up may also have helped. The week was notable for there being not a single 3 pointer won by anyone, and also the collapse (temporary?) of Ronan's comeback with a paltry 3 points scored compared to 9 in Week 27. Darren could breathe a sigh of relief as he notched up a respectable 6 to ease worries of being caught and put the gap back at 10 points.
And good luck to Bradford City today of course.

Week 28 Table

Penny     234 pts
Darren    227 pts

Week 26 Round Up

Now THAT'S a celebration Carlo. Respect to Mr Freund despite his being employed by the evil that is Tottenham Hotspur.
So, moving on, Week 26 eh? Things are getting really close as once again there was only a point between all our players. Ronan lost a little of the ground he made up in the last few weeks but stays within touching distance of Darren who was this week's big winner with 7. Penny keeps her head above the riffraff with a solid 6. We have to hope that the Curly Wurly Cup doesn't prove too much of a distraction for the next couple of weeks.

Week 26 Table

Penny   220 pts
Darren  215 pts
Ronan  205 pts

Planks of the Week

I can't help feeling that Peter Odemwingie was partly a victim of his own stupidity but also a victim of his equally stupid and greedy agents. More than likely the lad has at least 3 different agents, all having different conversations with QPR and West Brom and quite a lot of certainty got lost in the crossfire. Why one of them couldn't have got him on the blower to tell him to wait for news in a nearby Travelodge rather than turn up at the gates of Loftus Road, we will probably never know. Sigh...

Week 25 Round-Up

Well, this week was certainly a lot more exciting than the damp squib of last week as all our Skillers notched a good tally. It may have done little to effect the overall standings but it makes for exciting viewing. Ronan definitely seems to have turned a corner; could it be that big money move to the metropolis has helped his game or is it just a coincidence? He bagged another two 3 pointers this week, the Premiership and Cyprus doing the honours, to give him a total of 9 whilst Darren and Penny also got a 3 pointer each (both showing uncanny knowledge of the French Ligue 1), ensuring Ronan didn't eat too much into their lead. That Ronan hit the 200 milestone will surely give him a psychological boost and one worries that Darren might start to lose his nerve as Ronan creeps ever closer. Penny totalled 8 and Darren 7. Alas, none of our contingencies were needed this week, but for those desperate to know the Melbourne derby result, Victory were indeed victorious (ahem) over Melbourne Heart.
Above is a small tribute to the ever wonderful Carlo Ancelotti; that's how he celebrates the fourth goal going in for his team. Stefan Freund he ain't.

Week 25 Table

Penny  214 pts
Darren 208 pts
Ronan  200 pts
